In 1917 the United States purchased the 3 islands – St. Croix, St. John, and St. Thomas – from Denmark for $25 million and the Virgin Islands became an unincorporated territory of the United States; the treaty of cession promised U.S.A. citizenship to the inhabitants, except for those who chose to retain Danish citizenship To all who visit and view, and – especially – express support and satisfaction: you are much appreciated!
