Parrot's Beak, false bird-of-paradise, or Parakeet Heliconia (Heliconia psittacorum), its showy "flowers" actually highly modified leaves and beautiful frosty cream-colored bracts, shading from pinkish-red to mauve to the tips, that hold the real and usually small flowers; native to the Caribbean and northern South America, these tropical plants are one of eight related families in the order Zingiberales, families that include bird-of-paradise, bananas, cannas, and gingers To all who visit and view, and – especially – express support and satisfaction: you are much appreciated!
